Wow, the mortar additive finally arrived. 12 months after it was ordered, maybe six months after being paid for. How good is that ? All I am waiting for now is the Exterior Sealer.....

Design

This section is about the design decisions made, why and what.

house plan So, we decided to build our dream home in two stages. This was all about doing a 'manageable' build first up. We were 'camping' with minimal infrastructure and getting what was initially a one bedroom house up with a real bathroom and kitchen was a massive target.

Now, its fair to say that building in two stages like this is more expensive and probably more time consuming but honestly, tackling something too big from the start is a major reason why some owner building projects and even the marriages behind them, fail.

So, that decision made, it was all about permits !

So, we had a slab poured, water tank installed, the septic tank installed and, wait for it, a toilet installed in its final position. We built a timber and poly tarp wall around the 'loo' in the interests of not offending the neighbours. Then went for it !
