Wow, the mortar additive finally arrived. 12 months after it was ordered, maybe six months after being paid for. How good is that ? All I am waiting for now is the Exterior Sealer.....

Bad Blocks

Here are some photos of parts of some selected blocks, placed here at the request of several people. I claim full copyright on these photos and do not give permission for them to be used for any purpose other than to inform people investigating Timbercrete blocks. There are twenty photos here, my guess is that they came from about two pallet loads of blocks.

I am not suggesting that all of the ones shown are unusable but I did need be selective in where I used them or how I cut to minimise the impact. Sometimes you can put a block with an unsightly face where that face appears inside a cupboard. Do avoid putting a face with one of the ‘holes’ outside, danger of bugs moving in and the hole filling with water during rain. It is possible to ‘fill’ a hole with mortor but I don’t consider that a very satisfactory solution.

Please be aware that I am not suggesting these bricks are unusable, just that I, personally, am not happy with them. I think, from memory, my first batch of blocks contained, maybe, five blocks in the whole delivery that would make it it this page. All the ones shown above were from the second delivery, probably from about two pallet loads.
